Shamanic Healing / Soul Retrieval

Another type of healing I can offer is that of Shamanic Healing. What exactly is that? Throughout time all the indigenous people of the world have had a close connection to the earth and everything connected to it - basically stripping away the entire mystique surrounding the word "Shaman" it means someone who interacts with the natural world and all that lives on it to achieve healing and balance. They knew that without respect for our Earth we would not survive. They also had a deep sense of all living things be it the plant, crystal or animal kingdoms were intimately part of the whole. With this understanding they would draw on the help of these.

So now in the 21st century we don’t have to live in a mud hut or a cave to work with the Shamanic ways of healing. The Shamans of the West are urban healers and have adapted themselves accordingly. Many that practice this craft have done so in past lives and are just tapping into that reservoir of knowledge, plus a little extra.

Speaking for myself, I first learnt how to use these energies with the well-known writer and healer Gill Edwards. Other trainings and initiations in different parts of the world including Chichen Itza and Kashmir India have help me develop my own unique form of Shamanic Healing. Working with power animals and the drum made especially for me by the Uchucklesalt Tribe in Vancouver Island, Canada.

An important part of Shamanic Healing is something called "Soul Retrieval". This is based on the understanding that through trauma, illness, bereavement or abuse, to name but a few, we unconsciously shut down to protect ourselves. When this happens that part of ourself leaves us. We have a sense of something missing, not quite being here, unable to truly feel "alive". The urban Shaman will connect with the client and "journey" to find the lost part of the soul. He or she will then return it back to the client in a specific technique. Sandra Ingham is the pioneer in this field and her book is a classic and documents many cases of how successful this technique is. Do read her book if you are interested in knowing more. Other Shaman ways are sound and chanting drumming and dance together with working with plants and crystals.

If you feel drawn to this form of healing and would like to book a session please contact me.
