Autumn Newsletter
The evening light is fading,
and there is a distinct chill in the air, as we
approach Autumn All the seasons have a special
energy and meaning, which we can harness to help
us feel connected to the earth more.
Most people have a favourite season,
which resonates with them. I myself particularly
like autumn. Usually as it has been this year,
there are still lots of bright blue skies and
the sun is not too hot. The countryside begins
to gift us with abundance in produce, Blackberries
in the hedgerows, and the fields with their rolls
of straw awaiting storage for the winter months.
All the fruits indigenous to England like apples
and pears ripen and taste sweet and juicy. Lots
of "pick your own" farms swell with
all the vegetables on offer. We can have a sense
of gratitude that we live with abundance all around
us, as it is a traditional time to give thanks
with the harvest festivals. I always loved those
as a young child at school, and the boxes filled
with produce set out on the stage during assembly,
awaiting delivery to the elderly and sick used
to fascinate me.
Apart form the abundance of foodstuffs
at autumn, we also get a feeling that nature is
getting ready to bed down for the winter. The
leaves slowly changing colour, then being shed
show us it’s time to slow down a little
and review what’s been happening to us during
the spring and summer. It is a poignant time and
the process of the trees shedding their leaves
seems to echo this deeply within us. That’s
why trees during this time of year seem to fascinate
most people. The memory of when I lived in London
as a child and walking through a suburban tree
filled street wading deeply through the leaves
still sits vividly with me. The sensation of crunching
the leaves underfoot was rather satisfying. Even
though they were "dead" they were still
beautiful to look at. I also loved our nature
lessons when we had to collect different leaves
and take them to school, pouring over books comparing
their shapes and colour to discover their identity.
Living in towns and cities can
disconnect us from what Mother Earth is doing
as the season changes. However we only have to
open our eyes and ears and make a concerted effort
to connect and we will be amply rewarded. Even
in the densest city where concrete is the norm
we can see a pair of magpies, watch a sunset over
the rooftops, discover a hidden blackberry bush
on wasteland, walk pass a tree in someone’s
garden where its drooping with fruit. The more
we open up the more we will discover. Mother Nature
wants to lets us share her secrets.
On an inner level, this is a good
time to think about balancing and realigning ourselves.
Any projects or new studies we took up in the
spring and summer can be looked at and reassessed.
It’s also a good time for other mental activities
and group work.
The colours predominant in autumn
such as brown, gold, mustard yellow, burnt orange,
dark red, are all colours we can work with to
help with our inner connection. Making an altar
with items from nature, such as leaves twigs,
berries and conkers makes a nice focal point.
For mental work and studying, orange for creativity,
and the yellows will help. We can breathe these
colours into our systems for a few minutes before
we start any work. Crystals of these colours such
as citrine, and calcite are also useful. The dark
reds found in trees like the Japanese Maple are
wonderful to anchor us and to meditate with. These
would work well with the golds for higher knowledge
and understanding. It is inherent within us to
want to make this vital life giving connection
to nature and the seasons, so have fun tuning
in and you won’t be disappointed!
Don’t forget if you feel
you need some help and guidance for the coming
months I am here to help. A reading or private
consultation with me is only an email or phone
call away.
I'm also available for talks and
lectures on colour and all the other subjects
mentioned on the website.
For example I have recently given
a talk to a women’s group, of mainly young
mothers. I tailor the talks to reflect the group’s
lifestyles and interests. Another talk was at
someone’s home during a party for all women.
Although the women attending were of different
ages and background, they all enjoyed the talk.
I always get people to be interactive so that
you have fun while learning something and seeing
life from a different perspective. So if you would
like me to give a talk on colour, spiritual healing,
space clearing, do get in touch.
Meanwhile have a beautiful autumn.
Enjoy sharing this time with your loved ones,
family and friends.
Love and Rainbow Blessings
Ann
